AFL HCC State of Play 08.07.2021
Yesterday the NSW Government announced the stay-at-home orders for Greater Sydney (including Central Coast, Blue Mountains, Wollongong and Shellharbour) have been extended until 11.59pm on Friday, 16 July. Existing restrictions for regional NSW will remain until that date. As a result, there will continue to be no community football matches, training, Auskick or events in the Greater Sydney region while these restrictions remain in place. The NSW Government is expected to provide further clarity on the planned exit from the current stay-at-home orders in the coming days.
After consideration of this announcement the following decisions were resolved by the HCC Board of Directors:
- Junior and Senior matches scheduled for this weekend (10/11 July) involving Hunter based teams proceed as per the current draws (Juniors – rd 10, Seniors – rd 12).
- Readjustment of this weekend’s COVID impacted matches (Central Coast teams v Hunter teams) to align Hunter v Hunter teams.
- At this stage adjusted matches be treated as competition matches with their final status confirmed when the full impact of the current COVID disruption is determined.
Regarding the season’s schedule, the League and HCC Board will continue to work through a number of factors including total fixturing impacts, athlete and venue preparation, competition integrity and the ongoing restrictions, and update clubs accordingly.
