Central Coast Umpire to officiate on the game’s biggest stage
Central Coast based umpire, Codi Raff, will this Sunday live out a dream when she will officiate at the AFL Grand Final during the Half Time Auskick match.
Codi, who is in her first year of umpiring with the Central Coast Juniors, was nominated along with 9 other umpires from across AFL NSW/ACT and was the lucky winner. She will be the only umpire representing NSW when she officiates on the MCG in front of a potential crowd of 100,000 people. Codi will also participate in the traditional Grand Final Parade through the streets of Melbourne on Friday, along with the Auskickers who will participate in the match that Codi will officiate in.
AFL NSW/ACT Northern NSW Umpires Coordinator, Emily Brown was able to deliver the good news to Codi late last week and told AFL Hunter Coast “The opportunity that Codi has received is well deserved and has come about following an impressive first year of umpiring on the Central Coast. Opportunities such as these are very rare and Codi was very excited to be chosen to participate in the Grand Final week activities, culminating with the big game on Saturday”.
Recruitment for the 2019 umpiring season is happening now. With competitions continuing to grow across the Hunter & Central Coast, more umpires are required to fill appointments across both regions. Click on the Become an Umpire link at the top of the page to find out more information.
