CENTRAL COAST – Youth Girls Gala Day Wrap Up
It was all smiles at Don Small Oval after a successful Youth Girls Gala Day to begin the Central Coast Youth Girls season recently.
Over 100 girls participated in the event, with both the Under 14 and Under 17 divisions producing some nail biting matches and excellent skills on display from all teams. With AFL Development staff on hand to assist club coaches and some senior umpires volunteering their time, Girls new to the game were given the opportunity to develop their skills, while more experienced players were able to refine their talents for the upcoming season.
After a series of close competition, Killarney Vale were crowned the Under 14s champions after defeating Wyong-Lakes in a close contest. New teams Terrigal Avoca/TEBB and Saratoga/NPO showed that they will be a force to be reckoned with throughout the season, providing strong competition throughout the day.
The Under 17s competition displayed some excellent football, with Gosford coming out on top after some closely fought matches with Killarney Vale, Gosford and Wyong Lakes. Most importantly, the level of sportswomanship displayed by all teams was great to see, with all players great ambassadors for their clubs.
The Central Coast Youth Girls Competitions will continue this Sunday. It’s not too late to register, simply search for your local club to find out what our great game is all about!
