Hunter Teacher Named Ambassador of the Year

Local primary school teacher Erin Bradshaw has been named the 2016 NSW Female School Ambassador of the Year.

Erin started teaching at Biddabah PS at the start of 2016 in her first fulltime placement. With a strong family connection to the local AFL she immediately made it a priority to increase the school’s participation and branding of our code.

This involved promoting the local club and entering teams with great results in the Paul Kelly Cup (Hunter Finalists) and Tony Lockett Shield (Hunter Champions). The school also had students represent at PSSA level and ran a successful After-School Auskick Program for the first time. Erin continues her link with the local club by playing for Warners Bay in the BDAFL Women’s competition as well as being a Sydney Swans member.

AFL NSW/ACT Development Manager Craig Golledge was thrilled for Erin who thoroughly deserved the recognition.

“The Hunter Region is blessed to have so many teachers like Erin who support our great code and our local clubs. Erin has achieved so much in her first year of teaching at Biddabah PS and her passion for the game is reflected in the enthusiasm of her students.”

Erin is the second teacher from the Hunter Region to win the prestigious award in the past six years.

The prize included Erin attending the National School Ambassador Function held at the Geelong v Hawthorn match during week one of the finals series with complimentary flights and accommodation.
