Sam Gilbert

 

A versatile and athletic defender who can also push up onto a win, Gilbert was pick No.33 in the 2005 National Draft. Gilbert’s 2013 started off promisingly before he hyperextended his left knee in St Kilda’s round six clash against Collingwood. He returned to the senior fold in round 21 and immediately demonstrated his worth, collecting 25 disposals against Gold Coast and a further 21 versus Fremantle. Gilbert is a reliable defensive option who reads the play better than most and is rarely flustered in the back half.
