Warners Bay 2019 Season Preview
PRESIDENT PREVIEW
Our Club is placed well for the advent of a new season in season 1 of the AFLHCC. Both our grounds at Feighan Oval are in great shape and our new Amenities Block commences construction later this year.
We have had an influx of new players this season, giving our coaches Marty Reiman, Jeremy Buckley and Tracy Baker plenty to work with heading into Round 1.
An early season highlight will be on Anzac Day, when we play our old rivals Cardiff at the new Pasterfield Complex.
How’s Preseason going?
Our new players are improving each week and there have also been some tough sessions in the heat, which has been the case for all clubs, but the players have enjoyed getting the footballs in the hands and getting back into the routine again.
Overall preparations have been going well and we look forward to the season ahead. We had a tough trial against Terrigal Avoca on March 16, then a huge Round 1 against Wyong Lakes.
Biggest surprise packet in 2019?
Jeremy Smith
Tiffani Jones
MEN’S CUP TEAM PROFILE
After a disappointing end to our season in the Preliminary final last year the boys have returned hungry for some success in season 2019. We have picked up a few new guys and lost a few in the process but the guys who have committed to the preseason have put their heads down and are training well. The new guys are improving each week and there have also been some tough sessions in the heat, which has been the case for all clubs, but the boys have enjoyed getting the footy’s in the hands and getting back into the routine again. Overall preparations have been going well and we look forward to the season ahead.

MEN’S PLATE UPDATE
We have seen a number of new faces join the footy club over the preseason and all players have been training well in the lead up to the season. We have made a conscious effort to focus on involving the girls in all of our sessions and this has led to the club forming stronger bonds between the grades. With some new equipment purchases and the ground in top shape, training has been heavily focused towards fitness and the boys have enjoyed the workload so far. With increasing numbers each week we are excited about the season ahead and still have a lot of work to do on the track to give ourselves the best opportunity this season.
Who is the team to beat in 2019?
There will be some really good contests this year I feel in this grade with a number of experienced players and recruits likely to play through this grade for all clubs. We will be doing our best to be competitive against the likes of Newcastle City and Terrigal Avoca. There are some really good signs from a number of recruits and veterans in our club, so time will tell whether that translates into some good form once the season starts.
