NEAFL – Match Preview and Teams Announced

The Sydney Swans reserves have named a strong side for their round 9 NEAFL clash with the Gold Coast Suns to be played at Newcastle No1 Sportsground on Saturday.

Pending any late changes to the Senior side, NEAFL coach Rhyce Shaw will have 17 Swans listed players at his disposal, including experienced senior players Allir Allir, Brandon Jack and Harrison Marsh, while exciting young prospect Shaun Edwards returned last week in an impressive display.

For the Gold Coast side, although it was reported earlier in the week that Pierce Hanley could be in line for a return, he has been brought straight back in to the Suns’ AFL side, following the withdrawal of Garry Ablett. This leaves the Suns with only nine AFL listed players selected in the match, which will undoubtedly make the going tough for the Gold Coast.

The ladder leading Swans come off a convincing 11 goal win over the second placed Sydney University last week, while the 7th placed Gold Coast had the bye. A win for the Suns would place them back in touch with the top six, however with the experienced team the Swans will bring to Newcastle, coach Rhyce Shaw will be expecting nothing less than four competition points from Saturdays fixture.
