Warners Bay appoints Nathan Harkness as Senior Coach

Warners Bay has appointed Nathan Harkness as its new Black Diamond Cup and Club coach for the 2020 season.  He will be assisted by Chris Bell and will be joined by Rosie Baker-Holmes as women’s coach and Elliot Maher as the Black Diamond Plate coach.

Harkness joins the club with an excellent playing and coaching pedigree developed over 30 years of involvement in Australian Football.  He holds an AFL Level 2 coaching certificate.

Nathan began coaching in 2014, taking control of the St Josephs Colts in the Geelong Football League. Nathan took St Josephs to a Division 1 Preliminary Final, a great result as they had been promoted to Division 1 and had lost three of their best players.

In 2017, Nathan took over as Senior Head Coach of the Cardiff Hawks Football Club, his first season as a Senior Coach. Nathan guided Cardiff to the Black Diamond Cup Grand Final in his first season, with the Hawks going down to Terrigal Avoca by a mere 9 points in an epic Grand Final.

In 2018, Nathan guided Cardiff to the Black Diamond Cup Preliminary Final, where the Hawks went down to eventual Premiers Newcastle City.

Nathan coached the Hunter Boys Under 17s to undefeated campaigns in 2018 and 2019, defeating Central Coast comfortably in both Grand Finals.

Finally, Nathan was co-Coach of the AFLHCC Men representative team in 2019, expanding his coaching portfolio and achieving a very good win over a talented South Coast outfit.

Nathan Harkness comes to the Bulldogs with sound experience, an outstanding football brain and with a goal of getting Warners Bay back to being a highly competitive playing group vying for play deep into finals.
