Umpire Head Coach Role – Position Overview: The umpire head coach is responsible for the development and performance of all league appointed umpires both junior and senior throughout the Hunter Central Coast region. Please refer to the position description for all required duties.

Primary Job Functions:

  • Recruitment and retention of umpires throughout the Hunter Central Coast region
  • Host training throughout the region on a fixed schedule
  • Complete senior weekly umpire appointments
  • Work with the junior, boundary and goal umpire coaches to develop session plans

  5. Strategic Relationships -HCC Community Football Department and HCC Umpire Manager
  6. Duties

– Provide direction and leadership to AFL Hunter Central Coast Umpires, both junior and senior

– Appoint AFL Hunter Central Coast Senior Umpires to agreed senior preseason matches, in-season matches, Finals, Grand Finals and special appointments as they arise, in consultation with appointed coaches, within the designated region via the Schedula appointment system.-

– Conduct weekly training sessions for juniors and seniors at nominated Hunter and Central Coast venues. Work with Umpire Development Coordinator – Northern NSW to book grounds, training nights and times.

– Record training attendance, weekly availability and number of games umpired for each umpireSupport Junior coaches (Hunter and Central Coast), Boundary Coach and Goal Coach with training material/session plans, training equipment and support and guidance.

– Coordinating match day observers and observations for AFL Hunter Central Coast Field Umpires. Related duties to include: Recruitment, training, support and coordination of observers and Review of any match day feedback and performance summaries

– Provide any match performance feedback to AFL Hunter Central Coast Field Umpires in a timely manner (within 2 weeks)

– Ensure each senior umpire receives at least one (1) formal written feedback report during the season

– Appropriate follow up of missing match day paperwork (seniors) in a timely manner as advised by the Football Operations Department – AFL Hunter Central Coast

– Work with the Umpires Association (NCCUA) to promote awareness of the group, provide head coach report (including junior, boundary and goal coach summaries) at selected Umpire Association meetings. Encourage all umpires to attend social events hosted by the Umpires Association with Head Coach mandatory attendance at key League and Umpire Association events throughout 2019.

– Tenure of appointment is for the 2019 AFL Hunter Central Coast season as indicated above

– Valid Working with Children Check

– Base remuneration to be paid at the completion of the appointment with a bonus if targets achieved.
