AFL Hunter Central Coast appoint chairperson

AFL Hunter Central Coast is pleased to announce that David Flynn has been elected as Chair of the newly formed AFL Hunter Central Coast Board.

The Board includes three Board members appointed by AFL NSW/ACT, four Board members elected by AFL Hunter Central Coast clubs, plus two transitional Board members from the Boards of the previous junior and senior leagues, AFL Hunter Coast and Black Diamond AFL. The newly formed AFL Hunter Central Coast Board are charged with leading the exciting future of AFL club competitions in the region.

David has an extensive background in AFL football within the Hunter Central Coast region having played over 200 first grade games including playing in five Black Diamond Cup premierships, obtaining 7 representative guernseys as Captain. David also played reserve grade football for Carlton Football Club and TAC Cup for the AFL NSW/ACT Rams.

David’s business background includes a Degree in Business from University of Newcastle, and since his studies David has undertaken numerous roles including Operations Manager of a law firm and is currently HVG Group Managing Director and Chair of the Hunter Valley Wine Show. David has also has held numerous Board and Executive roles.

David is delighted to have been appointed and is looking forward to working with his fellow Board members ahead of the new season.

It’s an exciting time for AFL in the region with unprecedented investment into local junior and senior leagues, school programs and facilities. Both Male and Female player participation numbers are growing at a staggering rate, proving that AFL is an inclusive and exciting game.

Our aim as a Board is to partner with key stakeholders, provide strong governance and strategic direction so that we have robust sustainable frameworks that can facilitate the continued growth of AFL in our Region.

The hard work has already started and there has been a lot of work going on behind the scenes from the Board and we’re all really looking forward to the new season.
